Good literature is like an elixir for the spirit. It teaches, informs, inspires and transports one from the day-to-day realities to a safe, comfortable place in the mind. The mental energy expended reading books is worth more than gold. Literature has always raised levels of consciousness from the time of Guttenberg's first formal printing of a "book". Literature has numerous genres: fiction, non-fiction, biographies, autobiographies, historical, documentations, short stories, essays and poetic odyssey. Delve into the world of literature whether in books, archival documents or magazines and the result is literary information. Literature is the foundation of knowledge for students of every age. But, literature also serves as a resource for research and development in science, medical and technological fields. No matter how sophisticated technology becomes in the future, literature in the form of books, educational texts and childrens stories and fairy tales, will always be a medium with growth. With each passing decade, the style of literature evolves. Consider, for example, the books of Mary Lamb to those of Dame Barbara Cartland or books written by William Wordsworth as compared to those of Graham Greene.
Each author has written literature from viewpoints of their own personal experiences or readapted circumstances in fiction. For every book of fiction that's been written, ideas have blossomed forth that may have been inspired by the literature contained within. This is certainly true of books published for education. In education, books on any topic... history, social studies, mathematics, science, grammar or religion, are published in lesson plan form.
